Ben Watt

luna sunday mix – by ben watt (44.50mb, 48:36mins)
[right click here to save]

summer keeps rolling on after a fashion and more stellar guest mixes keep coming. this week we’ve got a brilliant selection from dj, musician and buzzin fly head honcho ben watt.

already world-reknown as one half of everything but the girl, in the 90’s he performed a remarkable musical volt face and begun to explore the deeper edges of house through his lazy dog club nights and compilations before setting up the buzzin’ fly label in 2003.

the label has grown in stature over the last six years hosting legendary nights at the end before setting up shop with we fear silence down at the arches. this month though they are going back to basics at plastic people for two dates of sweaty friday night action on the 24th july and 22nd august.

you can get full details for the july one here. though it did practically sell out six weeks in advance so you should probably start queuing for the very limited door spaces now if you want to get in. stick the mix in your i-pod to keep you warm. recorded live at luna music in indianapolis back in march at their sunday social session, it’s packed with rock and disco edits, in contrast to the house and techno that typify his club sets. enjoy.

baby oliver – primetime (uptown express)
kate bush – running up that hill (ben’s edit)
todd terje – glitterind
fleetwood mac – brown eyes (ben’s edit)
m craft – you are the music (trevor jackson remix)
david rubato – circuit (aeroplane remix)
pet shop boys – kings cross (ben’s edit)
max berlin – elle et moi (joakim remix)
bon iver – blindsided (ben’s edit)
synth 1 (ben’s FX)

next friday the 24th of july we return to cargo for the first time since our massive party with the field and luke abbot back in april.

we’re part of a tasty line put together by eat your own ears that takes in live sets from DFA’s yacht and punk funk pioneers gramme as well dj sets adventures close to home and a 3 hour headline set from ourselves.

as its a friday and its cargo it is of course free so get down early to enjoy the music and avoid the queues.

full details here.

and don’t forget the super furry animal warehouse party this saturday.
